Introduce a Boolean search functionality into Percipio

Current Challenge: As it stands, our content curation is managed through Excel, with each content item requiring individual searches to then add within Percipio. This process is not only time-consuming but also less efficient, often taking hours per project.

Proposed Solution: By enabling Boolean search, we can utilise formulas in Excel to string together multiple UUIDs and perform a single search query. This would allow us to retrieve a comprehensive list of relevant content almost instantly!

Benefits:

  1. Reduced Time: The time to search and add content to projects would decrease dramatically, from hours to just a few minutes.
  2. Increased Productivity: Streamlining search operations frees up time for our team to focus on other critical tasks, enhancing overall productivity.
  3. Improved User Experience: Makes the platform more user-friendly, aiding in quicker and more accurate content retrieval.

Thank you for considering this improvement to our platform.

  • This would be an absolute game changer in terms of time saved on tactical work, for both Skillsoft and our customers!

  • Love this idea, this type of work takes our team an age to do and copying so many UUIDs leaves a little room for error. If this did get implemented I would add to this the option of 'bulk adding' too at the end so you don't have to then hit the + sign for every item.

There is a design methodology called Jobs-to-be-Done that helps you design solutions to problems such as these by getting to the real motivation. In this case it seems to be time. It takes too long and is tedious work to search for each content item independently to add to a channel or journey or assignment, etc.

    We are considering these options:
    1. Add to playlist from the learner view and then choose from the playlist at curation time

    2. AI driven curation - you type in what you are looking like target audience, skills, levels, modalities, duration and we will bring back our BEST suggestions for you.

    3. Bulk import techniques as mentioned here.

Anyone else want to weigh in? We will be working on product designs in the coming months and your continued input will help inform. Thanks! :)

Bulk importing would be amazing for our organization! I'm not sure how much we'd really use options 1 & 2 listed.
