Blending My Personal Passion with Percipio
Sue Orchanian
GUIDE
Many people who know me know that my passion lies with helping dogs. In my spare time, I am on the Board of Directors of my local animal rescue called Pick Your Paw. I started thinking about how my personal passion is very similar to my work passion of helping organizations get value from their learning program. Read on and see what you think!
- Raising Awareness
- Percipio Program – to make your Percipio program as successful as you can, you need to spread the word and make sure everyone knows about it. That can be done in a variety of different ways – via communications, Town Hall meetings, manager involvement, etc. The more often you touch your users, the greater your program adoption.
- Animal Rescue - the best way to get a dog adopted is to raise awareness in the community and let people know about the dogs that are available for adoption. This too can be done in several ways … live events, social media, communications, articles, etc. The more touch points that occur, the greater the chance of a dog finding their forever home.
- Rewards Drive Behavior
- Percipio Program – an exciting way to get learners involved and increase adoption is to host a contest. If there is a prize to win, people will be eager to participate. As we know, people can be very competitive, so don’t just hold a contest for your learners. Hold a contest for departments too, where the highest percentage of people from departments who launch a Percipio asset during a given month wins a prize. It could be a free lunch, coming into work an hour later or leaving work an hour earlier.
- Animal Rescue – did I say TREATS!! Anyone who has a dog knows that if you want your dog to learn something new, use treats to motivate them. It doesn’t matter how old they are, food is a strong motivator for dogs.
- Have a Plan to Drive Your Success
- Percipio Program – create a marketing program that will help drive adoption is one way to help drive your program’s success. My recommendation would be to create a 12 month marketing plan that promotes assets that aligns to the organizations strategic imperatives, core values, key initiatives, etc. Remember, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail! Work with your Customer Success Manager to help strategize on what your marketing plan could look like. Ask for examples of a 12-month marketing plan. Your CSM has something that you can use to get a quick win.
- Animal Rescue – plan out the various fundraising events that you want to take place during the year. They can be as simple as having a movie night, where guests pay for admission and snacks, bake sales, car washes to raise money for the rescue, dog walks, dog washing, pet photo shoot, dog fashion shows, and the biggest to aspire towards . . . a plated dinner and gift auction. Once the plan is created, it is easy to figure out how much money can be raised during the year which equates to how many dogs the rescue can save.
- Show Appreciation
- Percipio Program – there are many ways to show appreciation for the learning that is being received from your Percipio program. Ask learners to write a testimonial about how having access to Percipio helped improve their performance in their current job role, helped manage their work/life balance, provided support to help them advance in their career, etc. Also, encourage learners to take the Course Evaluation. Running the Content Evaluations report will provide you with some insights that can be very useful.
- Animal Rescue – making donations is one of the best ways to show appreciation for your local animal rescue. Most of them are non-profit, so they rely on the help of their community to stay afloat. The more money raised; the more dogs are saved. It’s as simple as that! If funds are tight, there are other ways to show your appreciation. You can volunteer your time, donate much needed items, such as towels, blankets, dog toys, dog treats, etc.
- Showing Value
- Percipio Program – showing value for your Percipio program should be reviewed every year. Year one of your program might be all about awareness, where Year 3 might be about skills transfer and applying what was learned on the job. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager who can provide examples and best practices to help you show value. One way is to conduct Skillsoft’s Insights Study. A core service (core means free) which helps collect key measures of effectiveness for your Skillsoft program. The data collected is analyzed to produce average metrics related to skill gain, content relevance to current role, application/scrap rates, influence upon business outcomes, recommendation rate, and more.
- Animal Rescue – one way Animal Rescue’s show value is by the number of successful adoptions they have made. It is so important for a dog to be placed in the right home, not just any home. Extensive searching, interviews, reference checks, and love are key elements for finding a dog’s forever home. Another way rescues show value is by the money they raise through fundraising events. This can take the form of silent auctions, bake sales, tricky tray events, etc.
I hope this was a fun blog article to read and that you received some value from it. Please comment if you liked it and if you would like to share your personal passion. Also, share how your Percipio program is doing and what you did to achieve success.
