May Featured Discussion: How are you positioning Skills Benchmarks with learners?
Burning Glass Technologies' After the Storm report predicts there will be 15.5 to 18 million new jobs created over the next five years. Learners put in the hours to stay ahead of rapid change by refreshing their skills and embracing new ones but how much time do they waste learning something they already know or looking for the right content to progress their learning. Skillsoft's new Skills Benchmark feature allows learners to assess their knowledge and identify the correct learning path for where they are at. That got us thinking about how our customers are using this new tool:
How are you positioning the new Skill Benchmarks with your audiences to ensure learners focus on what matters most?

Hi Scott,
Now that we've had some time to see benchmarks come out we want to start educating learners that they are there.
Since the marketing videos that are created by Skillsoft are often 'outward facing', I pulled in the Youtube video as custom content into Percipio.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMZS6xYJvOA
-------------------------------------------
This allows us to easily share it with Learners in our internal Percipio experience.
This isn't ideal, as the 'outward facing' marketing always refers to 'request a demo' which as customers we don't really want our internal staff seeing.
However, being able to capitalize on what Skillsoft has already produced for the tool saves us time and energy in explaining it.

Thanks for this feedback @Elaine Barnes and great idea to pull the video into Percipio. I'm currently investigating ways we can better support video-based marketing that can be scaled more easily. I hope your efforts are well received by your learners!Hi Scott,

Thanks, @Scott Elvin. I'm eager to hear more about scalable marketing - there are pieces that already exisit that simply need the final few seconds removed that talk about 'schedule a demo'. Marketing that can be used to drive utilization for current customers that we don't have to create internally would be very valuable. We don't use any of the marketing Word docs and such provided by Skillsoft now as they don't make sense for us and never have. What we need is ways to explain the actual benefits of what we purchased from Skillsoft to our learners and how they can access them:Thanks for this feedback @Elaine Barnes and great idea to pull the video into Percipio. ------------------------------- How to use/ why use Percipio
- How to use/ why use the Percipio app
- How to use/ why use the PMP bootcamps and supporting information for sitting your PMP exam and how to do so <-- this could directly relate to internal cost savings, so having an easy way to communicate how to navigate the entire process would really be impactful.
- How to find and use/ why use PMP conitniuing educatino PDU courses (same for NASBA CPE) <-- also relateds to cost savings internally
- How to use/ why use other bootcamps
- How to use/why use benchmarks
Hope this helps give a end user admin perspective. We don't need marketing that 'sells' the service, we would value marketing that helps learners understand the value of the tools they already have available and drives utilization.
Thank you!

I love Elaine's suggestion, this is such a great idea! It would be amazing if Skillsoft would be willing to create more inward facing videos for existing customers to add to their local marketing plans and promotional activities. If the language of the videos could be tweaked so less 'salesy' and a bit more 'what's in it for users' as well as the organisation, then I would create promotional banners linking to the videos like a shot! Now that Skill Benchmarks have been added to the Library page perhaps directing users to this would be a great alternative final message, giving users a call to action and get them exploring. I can see so much more potential too for similar videos about Aspire Journeys, Labs, Curating your own and sharing Playlists, Quick navigation Tour (there are already some that nearly hit the mark on YouTube but just need updating), and so much more. I'm keeping fingers crossed this is something Skillsoft would be willing to support more of.-------------------------------------------Thanks for this feedback @Elaine Barnes and great idea to pull the video into Percipio.
