Remove Onboarding Screen
Many clients have difficulty with understanding what to do next with the initial, one-time "select your skills" onboarding screen for Percipio. It's not clear enough what the user needs to do to advance, as a web developer, I am inclined to agree with the users' Perspective.
It triggers very irate client interactions via the support team, which could be completely avoided by removing the step entirely or by making it substantially clearer that this is a one-time process that is completed in 2 steps (think how e-commerce carts work, ie Amazon, they show you at the top with breadcrumbs how many steps until you are complete so that you don't get lost or discouraged by the umpteenth pages you must sift through to get to the purchase page).
For every interaction of this type, I let the client know that it doesn't matter which choice they choose at all, it's as arbitrary a step as they come. So, as a data scraping tool for determining user interests, it's pretty useless and only serves to create more irate interactions with clients, especially with Compliance-only Percipio instances. Please fix this, it's needlessly painful to work with for both clients and customer support.

Having this interaction pop up at a later time with the option to close the window would be something we'd like to see. We agree that new users being forced to figure it out is not always clear and most of our new hires are directed to Percipio by a link provided in their onboarding documentation that they assume is taking them directly to that resource. Some believe the link to have an error when the skill selection pages pop up and they assume they are not at the correct location. This could be fixed in our communication but we'd prefer to simply have the Skill Selection possibly pop-up upon the first log "out" of the system with an explanation of what and why it's being presented.0

@Eian Clair @Steve Dunn Thank you both for your feedback. This is very timely as we are planning to enhance the Onboarding experience in the Q2 time frame. We will be testing a few different approaches. For example, allowing users to skip onboarding and go directly to the home page where they might see more generalized options to get them to content faster. If a user chooses to skip onboarding, then they would be able to select skills that they are interested in from the home page at a later time. Stay tuned for more details!0
