NEW DIVERSITY CONTENT FEATURING SPECIAL OLYMPICS

People are built from experiences.  What you are passionate about and what you do are influenced by your lived experiences.   Sometimes, if you are truly lucky, everything aligns and you can do something influential that supports exactly what you are passionate about.

I am an employee here at Skillsoft but what those of you reading may not know is I am also the proud mother of a child with Autism.  This piece of my lived experience has made me try to be the best ally I can in the conversation of inclusion. Through my time here at Skillsoft, I have had the pleasure of serving as the Customer Success Manager supporting Special Olympics.   This is a passion project for me, as like any parent, I hope to make the world a better and more inclusive place for my son.

This is why I'm so pleased to share that today, on International Day of Persons with Disability, we are releasing two new courses into our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) collection. These two courses featuring Special Olympics focus on Diversity and Inclusion specific to the space of Intellectual Disability.

Embracing the Power of Diversity and Inclusion featuring Special Olympics
Great Leaders Must Be Inclusive featuring Special Olympics

In these courses La'Wana Harris serves as our guide, introducing us to different Special Olympics athletes, employees, board members and partners.  These individuals share their personal experiences, barriers they have encountered, guidance on how to be more inclusive and best practices of where organizations can begin.  These powerful stories help us learn about the Illusion of inclusion as well as the idea of Unified Leadership.

Below you will find resources that can be used to highlight this content within your organization and help share the stories of these individuals.  These courses have been published to all client Percipio sites.  For any Skillport organizations these courses will be available on our DEI Resource page and our YouTube channel next week.

Percipio Clients - Available within your Percipio Instance (Business Operations - Human Resources - Diversity & Inclusion)
Skillport Clients - Please use DEI page or Youtube links to promote.  Work with your CSM if you have questions.

Thanks for your sharing your personal connection.  I too am a mother to a child/teenager on the spectrum. And while she is very high functioning, and that is most often a blessing, it is also almost a curse at times, because people then don't give her much grace for her different mind.  I look forward to checking out these new courses in Percipio.
